EMSELLA

Home / EMSELLA

EMSELLA is a HIFEM® (high intensity focused electromagnetic) procedure, that utilizes electromagnetic energy, at a high frequency, to stimulate the pelvic floor muscles. It is a noninvasive procedure that is helpful in the rehabilitation of weak pelvic muscles and restoration of neuromuscular control for the treatment of urinary incontinence in women and men. Patients also reported increased sexual desire, improved lubrication, and arousal, and they were more satisfied with their orgasm intensity.

The treatment is a series is six 30-minute sessions, typically two a week for three weeks. You may need additional treatments depending on the severity of your condition. The greatest improvement was seen after 3 months and maintained for at least 6 months. In multiple studies, patients report continence and sexual function are significantly improved including improvement in the control of leakage during coughing, sneezing and physical activity. After 6 treatments, 100% of patients reported better awareness of pelvic floor muscles, 95% reported quality of life improvement, 67% reduced use or eliminated hygienic pads. At 1 year, 86% of patients reported less urine leakage and frequency.

What does the treatment feel like?

During the EMSELLA treatment you will be completely clothed. When the treatment starts you will feel slight tingling and vibrations in your pelvic floor muscles that will then turn into full contractions. This will be completely comfortable and tolerable. Take this 28-minute session to relax, read a magazine, or watch television. You will be able to return to normal activities after the treatment.

On the day of treatment, you are not required to do anything special; however, you are advised to wear comfortable clothing, allowing flexibility for correct positioning during the treatment.

How do I maintain results?

After the completion of 6 sessions, periodic Emsella treatments may be wanted depending on your goals. The frequency can range from every 3 months to once a year depending on severity of symptoms .
