The Ellacor System with Micro-Coring™ removes unwanted skin without surgery or thermal energy to treat moderate and severe wrinkles and laxity in the mid and lower face with patients with Fitzpatrick skin types I-III.The proprietary system precisely controls the needle location and depth to remove thousands of tiny columns of skin. Afterwards, your skin will begin to heal through your body’s natural process, resulting in visibly reduced skin laxity and wrinkles. This is a surgical procedure with a significant risk of bruising. You will be able to exercise, use make up and sunscreen four days after the treatment but bruising may be present for up to a month and pinkness of the treatment area may be present for over a month.
The results of the treatment are both immediate and progressive. Within two weeks, your skin will look tighter. Over the next 3-6 months, new collagen will form to further tighten and smooth lines. The number of treatments is unique to your concerns and skincare goals. We recommend one treatment and seeing the results before scheduling a second as the results improve for months. The earliest Dr. Rogers will do a second treatment is 3 months after the first.
What does the treatment feel like and how am I numbed for?
Topical anesthesia is applied to the skin one hour prior to treatment and Toradol, a strong NSAID, is provided. Prior to your treatment the entire area being treated will be numbed with tumescent lidocaine making the pain minimal. If there is an area that is not adequately numb, please let us know and we can add additional numbing.
What is my preparation for the treatment?
A consultation with Dr. Rogers prior to the procedure is required. Unless otherwise directed, you may continue to use topical retinoids (i.e. tretinoin, Retin-A, Triluma, Melasma Quadruple Cream), antioxidants, and/or hydroquinone up to the day of your treatment. Patients with a history of cold sores, we will want to start you on a treatment of 500mg twice daily of Valtrex starting the day before your procedure. Please call the office so we can prescribe the appropriate prescription if you need it. Eat a good meal prior to your appointment and wear comfy clothing including a shirt that can be unbuttoned or unzipped. Bring a hat or hoodie, a scarf and sunglasses with you to cover as much of your face as possible when you leave the office.
What should I expect after my treatment?
Your face will be numb, swollen and bruised. You will experience pinpoint bleeding after the procedure and into the second day. You will not want to be seen for the first 3 days due to swelling, redness & bruising. Swelling should resolve in 3-5 days. Grid marks fading into skin pinkness will be visible for 3 to 6 weeks. Pain can easily be managed with ibuprofen or Tylenol, if needed. Wait 3 days before doing strenuous exercise. Be diligent in sun avoidance for the first 4 weeks and always
protect skin with a zinc-based sunscreen. Allow at least 4 weeks before big events (i.e. weddings, reunions, photoshoots, etc). We will provide you with a post-procedure kit with instructions and products, which should last two weeks.
